Our Company.

With more than 100 combined years of driver education training experience, Test Drive can and will teach you and/or your young driver the things they need to know and do to drive safely. Test Drive will ensure that each and every new driver has developed the skills described by the instructional objectives of the program.

Established in 2017

After instructing and influencing the skills and self-reliance of thousands of diverse drivers with the Marshalltown Community School District, Mark Bohan and Justin Boliver founded Test Drive, LLC. 

Our ​Goal

​Test Drive's mission is to provide drivers with a superior training program and better prepare them for open road driving on their own. Test Drive promises to build positive relationships with the learner and to accommodate their needs and schedules as much as possible.

Our Team. 

Alex Abbe
Mr. Abbe has been in the classroom for the past 8 years.  He is an incredible teacher who integrates situations and cutting edge technology into his presentations.  He is in his 14th year as a career certified teacher and loves the interaction with students driver's education has brought to him.  "I love to make students think about the driving task in ways they have never done before."  

Casey Moberly
Mrs. Moberly has been a career certified teacher in the Marshalltown School District since 2010.  She loves interacting with students in a different way and loves to see the improvement from the 1st drive to the last.  In addition to teaching, she has been also been a lead teacher and coached for many years.

Chris Jones
Mr. Jones comes to Test Drive as a Behind-the-Wheel Instructor with over 20 years of experience as a certified police officer. His focus is to engage students, build confidence and share examples of how the principles learned during each class session may apply to everyday life on the road. Mr. Jones strives to equip students with the ability to anticipate, avoid and mitigate concerns commonly experienced by teen drivers.  

Gary Mertens
Mr. Mertens has worked as a certified teacher and behind the wheel instructor. He is in his 29th year of teaching driver's education and enjoys having the opportunity to positively impact our student's lives.  Mr. Mertens brings with him a wealth of experiences to our program.  He was a bus driver in downtown Chicago, has a master's degree in linguistics, and enjoys the fact that he is making a difference.

Shirley Faircloth
Mrs. Faircloth has worked in the Juvenile Court System over 30 years. She has offered Behind the Wheel  instruction both publicly and privately for a number of years.  She enjoys teaching students a skill that they will be able to use throughout their lives.  Mrs. Faircloth believes it is rewarding to be able to teach the basics of driving which hopefully will help build a foundation of safe driving habits for years to come.

Mark Bohan
​With over 30 years of teaching, coaching and driver's education experience, your child will receive instruction, lessons and experiences that are second to none.  Mr. Bohan has been an on campus teacher for over 30 years and off campus teacher for the past 15.  He enjoys teaching students a subject that directly relates to the student's lives immediately.  He is proud to be a career teacher and coach and has been in the Marshalltown School District since 1996.  

Stephen Frese
Mr. Frese is a Marshalltown Native who is in his 9th year as a career certified teacher at Marshalltown High School.  Mr. Frese is one of the gifted educators at Marshalltown High School.  He believes that each student can learn and should have the opportunity to become a licensed driver.  In addition, he wants to make Marshalltown a safer place for everyone.

​Robert Bartels
Mr. Bartels is a veteran certified teacher who is in his first year at South Hardin High School.  He has taught driver's education since 2012 and social studies since 2014.  He enjoys teaching and building relationships with students as they learn one of the most important life skills.  Mr. Bartels has been involved in athletics and club activities.

Steve Hoffman
Mr. Hoffman comes to Test Drive as a Behind-the-Wheel Instructor with 30+ years of experience as a certified police officer, Polk County Deputy and Marshall County Sheriff. He has always enjoyed working with people of all ages and believes our new drivers need to be instructed all road and right of way rules, instead of merely "staying out of the ditches." 

Tim Holmgren
Mr. Holmgren has been in the Marshalltown School District since 2003.  He has taught Drivers Education 8 years and enjoys teaching students working with students outside of the school setting.  He likes the teaching a subject that directly relates to student's lives immediately.  He is a classroom teacher, principal, and coach in the Marshalltown Community School District.

Christian Carrazco  Mr. Carrazco has worked as a certified teacher and behind the wheel instructor. He is in his 10th year of teaching in our dual language program and enjoys having the opportunity to positively impact our student's lives.  Mr. Carrazco brings with him a wealth of experiences to our program and enjoys the fact that he is making a difference.

Kerri Larsen Ms. Larsen has worked as a career Firefighter and behind the wheel instructor.  She is in her 21st year in public safety here in Marshalltown and enjoys teaching students to be as safe as possible on the road.  Ms. Larsen believes it is a great thing to be able to teach the students of Marshalltown and build a strong foundation which will serve them for years to come.
