Drive Times with our certified Behind the Wheel instructors are set up separately. Each student driver will complete 6 hours of BTW training with our staff - which is included in the cost.

Driving Schedules

The GTSB statistics show a 42% increase in fatality crashes amongst young people that took driver's education online.  

​Though we prefer to teach class face to face, we understand the need for flexibility with our demanding schedules and offer face to face as well as online options.  Our enrollment is open to anyone, not just Marshalltown students. Classes are offered year round - not just in the summer months. We currently contract with the Marshalltown Community School District, Grundy Center School District and the South Hardin Community School District, but serve anyone in Central or Northeast Iowa. 

Before You Sign Up

Iowa law says you must be at least 14 years of age to take driver education and you MUST have an instructional permit at the start of classes. If you are 18 years of age, Iowa law does not require you to take driver education. For more information about driver licensing in Iowa contact the Iowa Department of Transportation at www.iowa.gov and click on DOT.

Learning to drive is a serious matter. Commitment to the entire program is vital and is a measure of your readiness to take on the responsibility of driving. Driving will be scheduled at your first class meeting. We encourage all drivers to know their schedules and to be flexible when completing the driver education training program. 

State Certified

Test Drive is certified by the State of Iowa to conduct driver education training programs and uses only state-certified instructors to provide the program. All of the scheduled classes are state certified and include 30 hours of classroom instruction, and 6 hours of actual on-street driving led by a state approved instructor. ​

Our promise to you is to give you the driving experience you want for your student, either from certified police officers, from teachers or from coaches.
